Happy Summer!
As the school year comes to a close, our minds and hearts are filled to the brim. It’s been a great year! Together we’ve learned much and shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The strength of our community and wholehearted passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning for our children primarily but for all of us makes Carrington Academy truly a special place.
Our water park is officially open, and the excitement of delight coming from all our students little voices brings such joy to me. Field Trips have begun and Summer Camp is rocking and rolling! We have added some amazing field trip experiences for our children this year!
Registration is well underway for next school year. PLEASE ensure you have your child’s enrollment secured! If you are not sure that you have a secured your spot for August, please see the front desk ASAP! You will be receiving enrollment paperwork shortly for 2016-2017 school year. We are working hard to ensure that all of our classrooms have the perfect balance of learning and play and that each student’s individual needs are met so that they may become lifelong learners.
In closing, during this summer season please take some time to read with your child. Reading books with your child is one of the most rewarding experiences that you can have. You share time together and are teaching them the concept of words. It is never too early to share books with your child. Even infants and toddlers gain knowledge through them. As your child grows older, they will begin to understand the difference between pictures and words. They will recognize that written words are symbols for spoken words and thoughts, and will discover that stories follow a sequence of events from beginning to end. As you read, use your finger to point to the words and follow the sentences. This helps your child learn how words form sentences and how we read from left to right and top to bottom. Be sure to read age appropriate books that won’t make children have to sit for a long time. Infants and toddlers should be provided with picture and board books. Many preschool children enjoy books with rhymes or repetition so they know what is coming next.
