A Note From Our Principal
We hope your children enjoyed their fall lessons, pumpkin themed activities and classroom celebrations last month. Seeing our students enjoy their Halloween costumes and fall attire is one of the highlights of the year for us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of these special occasions! This month we are focusing on gratitude and connecting with our community. As part of this focus we are busily preparing for our Holiday Giving campaign. This year we are collecting cans for 11 Alive Can-Athon , that provides vital support for those in need. We are kicking off our canned food drive on Monday, November 11th and will be ending December 4th. Thank you in advance for your donations.
This month To sign the word “more,” make an “O” shape with each hand and tap together repeatedly. For further assistance, have your child’s teacher show you how to make the baby sign, or refer to videos and articles on the Web.
You may have noticed that your toddler is becoming much more physically active. During the second year of life, movement is essential for developing strong muscles needed to master gross motor skills.
This month, your child will learn basic shapes, work on understanding same versus different, and identify his favorite foods.
This month, your child will describe the size of various objects, listen to different types of music, and learn about healthy sleep, food and exercise habits.
This month, your child will identify uppercase and lowercase letters, recognize numerals 1-40, and create original patterns.
Illness Policy Reminder
Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:
- Fever of 100 degrees of more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
- Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
- Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3-5 minutes
- Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
- Sore throat
- Skin rash, including diaper rash
- Head lice
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness
For more information please see our Parent Handbook or reach out to a member of our administrative team.
Time to make Timmy the Turkey come to life!
Please pick up your family’s feather to decorate at the front desk! Please take a feather home and BOLDY display your family’s name on the feather. Then, decorate the feather however you would like! When all these beautiful feathers come back to school (by November 15th), they will make Timmy the Turkey come to life in the atrium to kick off the Holiday Season! Have your cameras ready! Enjoy this project with your family and we wish you a joyous Holiday Season! Ready or not, here it comes!
School-Age Thanksgiving Camp
Each of the elementary schools we pick-up from is closed November 25th through November 29th in observance of Thanksgiving. We are open November 25th – 27th and holding a special camp for our School-Age students. Students will be engaged in festive activities each day.
Please let us know if your student will be in attendance!
Each of our classrooms will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a special lunch on November 22nd at their scheduled lunch time. Students are making their own place-mats and table décor for this fun event. Please check with your child’s classroom for any special instructions and sign up if you are able to attend.
