Baby Sign Language:

This month’s baby sign is “diaper”.  To sign the word diaper”, put your hands down by your hips- palms facing down to the floor.  Take your first finger and middle finger-pinch these two fingers together-close them with your thumb.  For further assistance, have your child’s teacher show you how to make the baby sign, or refer to videos and articles on the Web.

This month, your child will recognize shapes, primary and secondary colors, and matching simple 3D shapes to simple 2D shapes.

This month, your child will identify common places to see in nature in the community. (park, yard, garden, farm).

This month, your child will identify 2D and 3D shapes by name, and create a simple bar graph.

This month, your child will explore seasonal weather and nature changes, and interpret simple timelines to explain changes over time.

We will be counting to the highest possible number we have learned during the year.

Our opposite this month is DIA-NOCHE (day and night)

Keep practicing and having fun in Spanish!

Monthly Spotlight

grilled cheese roll-up

  • 6 slices sandwich bread
  • 6 slices Kraft sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  1. Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of wheat or white sandwich bread.
  2. Remove the crusts, if you don’t like it.
  3. Top each piece of flattened bread with a piece of Kraft sharp cheddar cheese.
  4. Gently roll each piece of bread into a tight roll. Set aside.
  5. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Put each grilled cheese roll-up seam-side down in the skillet and firmly press another skillet on top of the rolls to keep them from falling apart. Turn the rolls and cook on all sides until lightly browned and the cheese has melted.
  6. Serve immediately.

Letter From the Principal

Dear Carrington Academy Families,

As we begin our first full week of May, we are thrilled to take a week to recognize our AMAZING and AWESOME Carrington teachers with our Teacher Appreciation events that we have scheduled throughout the week.  Please take a moment to read our e-blasts that give detailed descriptions on the special events that we have planned for our teachers each day!

The second and third week of May will be a busy time with field day for our entire school, and graduation ceremonies and class parties for our older students.  Please keep an eye out for e-blast communications and parent volunteer sign-up sheets that will be coming out soon!

We will close out the month of May with our first week of summer fun activities.  On May 26th, we will begin our water park days and our weekly special visitors!

This month is sure to be a fun and exciting time!  As we come to the close of yet another school year, we are so blessed and grateful that you have chosen Carrington Academy!  We are honored to have the opportunity to watch your sweet children grow and blossom each year!
