A Note From Our Principal
Summer is in full swing and we are having a great time teaching and learning with our students! We love having elementary-aged campers here each day, and it’s been a joy to see them interact with our preschoolers in the halls and on school-wide events. Many of our older students have been taking time away from camp activities to volunteer selling lemonade for Alex’s Lemonade Stand to parents and our younger students. Young children are always captivated by children who are older than they are, and our preschoolers are benefiting from having so many excellent role models in the building this summer. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer holds for us!
This month we are celebrating Independence Day with our second annual trike parade. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Nicole Wiggins
Monthly Curriculum
Infant
In our infant program, we start using baby sign language from the earliest months. Baby signs are common terms that have been modified and simplified from American Sign Language. The sign for this month is ” BOOK”. To sign “BOOK” press your hands together, palm-to-palm. Holding your pinky fingers together, open your hands as if opening a book.
Toddler
This month, toddlers will be working on numbers. A child’s knowledge of numbers begins developing at a young age. Children listen carefully as they hear teachers count and talk about the size and weight of items.
Beginner
This month beginners will feel and describe different textures and temperatures, name the shapes of three-dimensional objects found at the beach.
Intermediate
This month, intermediate will talk about events using past and future tense, learn to write his/her first name in print, and memorize and sing patriotic songs.
Pre-k/Camp
This month, Pre-k and Camp will learn opposite words, use a wide range of descriptive vocabulary, and continue to build subtraction skills.
Independence Day Celebration
Our second annual school-wide trike parade will take place on July 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Each child can decorate their bike, trike, or scooter to ride during the parade. The morning of July 3rd please drop off decorated bike, trike, or scooter in designated parking spot. Please send your child to school in red, white and blue. After the parade, each classroom will be having a popsicle party in their classroom. Parents are welcome to attend the parade and come to the classroom after the parade is over. We will share lots of photos on Links 2 Home for those that cannot attend!
Summer Camp Reminders
Each school-age parent should have received a copy of our summer calendar listing all field trips and approximate departure and arrival times. Changes will be communicated through Links 2 Home.
On field trip days, campers should arrive at school wearing their camp t-shirt with sunscreen already applied. Campers should have a reusable water bottle at camp each day. Closed toed, comfortable shoes are required for all field trips except those involving water.
