Since opening our doors in 2017, our mission has been simple: to create a school where children are challenged, families feel connected, and every child is truly known. Located in the heart of the Avalon community, we’ve built a culture that values both high-quality early education and the strong relationships that help children thrive. Where Learning Comes to Life At Carrington Academy, books are at the heart of our curriculum. Each week, classrooms are inspired by a featured piece of children’s literature that sparks learning throughout the day. A single story may lead to a science investigation, an art project, imaginative dramatic play, or meaningful classroom conversations. Our approach balances intentional teacher-led instruction with hands-on exploration and discovery. We believe children learn best when they are engaged, curious, and excited about what they’re learning. Through a combination of small-group learning, play-based experiences, and opportunities for independence, we help children build the skills and confidence they need for future success. Just as importantly, we invest in the educators who make that learning possible. Throughout the year, our teachers participate in professional development focused on curriculum, classroom excellence, and social emotional learning. We believe that when teachers feel supported, appreciated, and inspired, children benefit. A Community That Feels Like Family What makes Carrington Academy Avalon special extends beyond the classroom walls. We believe some of the most meaningful moments happen when families come together to celebrate, connect, and build lasting memories. Traditions such as our Spring Art Show, Trunk or Treat, Cookie Fridays, and family events throughout the year help create a true sense of community. One of our favorite traditions is Tiny Teachers Curriculum Night, where our oldest students take the lead and proudly teach their families what they’ve been learning. It’s a powerful reminder of how much confidence, independence, and growth can happen during the early childhood years. Our location in the heart of Avalon naturally extends our sense of community beyond the school day. Yes! Our principal is celebrating 5 years with us this year, and our assistant principal has been part of our team for 6 years.
